HEIMISH MATCHA BIOME OIL-FREE/CALMING GEL MOISTURIZER

I absolutely love this moisturizer! The HEIMISH Matcha Biome Gel feels super light on the skin but still gives amazing hydration. It sinks in quickly, doesn’t leave any greasy feeling, and works perfectly under makeup — my foundation goes on smoother and lasts longer.It gives such a fresh, natural glow and keeps my skin soft all day. I have normal to slightly dry skin, and this has been perfect for me. The calming effect is a bonus, especially if your skin gets a little sensitive. Definitely a new staple in my skincare routine! 💚

I haven’t used a gel moisturizer before and was excited to see how this one differed from the lotion/cream moisturizers I have used in the past. I found it to be very light, with a mild/pleasant scent. It felt extremely comfortable on my skin without greasiness or an odd texture and absorbed almost immediately. Both box and tube contained directions for use, and the tube was safety-sealed. I ordered this product in June 2025 and received it with an expiration date of July 2027. For $22 (price at time of review), I was very pleased with this product.

This is a solid, intensely hydrating moisturizer that I’d definitely reach for in colder months when my skin needs extra moisture. It has a lightweight texture and leaves my skin feeling soft, balanced, and not too tight, dry, oily, or greasy. The consistency is slippery (likely due to silicones?) which makes it spread across the skin very easily. While that slick feel doesn’t exactly scream “oil-free” to me, it does make application smooth and fast.It dries down with a slight tackiness at first, but that goes away after a couple of minutes. Still, I’d use a primer underneath if I were wearing makeup, just to get a grippier base. The formula is technically unscented, but it has that neutral, chemical-like smell from the ingredients themselves. But it's not strong, just noticeable.

I am disappointed there is no list of ingredients posted with this item. We should have this available to us PRIOR to purchase, so I'm uploading a crop from the product box I received.What immediately stands out to me is the way they truly make this a "Matcha Biome" product. At 58,760 ppm, the camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract is present in a very meaningful way.However, there is inconsistency here in the ingredients. The green tea is 58,760ppm, one of the ferments is 20.033ppm, and the next ferment is 20. I am leaning towards the comma being a thousands separator, not a period. And I am thinking as well that the period with the 1st ferment is a typo and should be a comma. And I am guessing that the 2nd ferment is a typo where the delimiter is missing altogether. So what about the totals, 5.8% matcha plus 2% each of the ferments for almost 10% total in the product? That's not farfetched. It is far less plausible that the ingredients would even bother mentioning 0.0058% or 0.002% if these were decimal numbers, since such low amounts are trace amounts.Anyway, in my usage so far, I am really enjoying how this feels on the skin, how it absorbs very nicely, leaving no sticky residue. I feel it lives up to its stated goals of providing moisturization, that cools and soothes, without irritation for those with oily or acne-prone skin.Bottom line is that I really like it. I've had no negative experiences with it, and the price seems quite reasonable.

I unfortunately cannot give a better rating because I appear to be allergic to this moisturizer, and possibly other Heimlish products. I had some irritation after testing another one of their moisturizers, but it wasn't extreme and I wasn't sure that it was the cause. Both of these moisturizers made my pores visibly bigger immediately upon application, and this Matcha Biome moisturizer didn't seem like it was absorbing well. A few minutes after applying, I started getting puffy red marks on my face. I washed it off with CeraVe since that was the gentlest thing I could think of to use, and now I'm trying to baby it back to normal with lots of collagen. Even this very gentle mask I have used many times without issue is burning the areas that puffed up. I know that Heimlish is a reputable brand that many people love, but I have to let people know that severe irritation is at least one possibility.

I was a little worried ordering this on Amazon especially with no reviews. I bought the full size after getting a sample from my Stylevana order. I could have ordered it on SV but that wait time? No thanks. I tested it out on my hand and no irritation/breakout yet. Moisturizing, lightweight and absorbs nicely into my skin. A little goes a long way because I still have my small sample from SV. I bought it for $15 but looking at the product again on Amazon it says $20+ so maybe after this I’ll buy it on SV for a better price.

I thought the moisturizer had a light gel-like consistency with a light green looking color, that had a slight matcha scent that felt fresh and cool on my skin. The moisturizer was easy to apply on my face and absorbed quick without leaving my skin feeling sticky. After a week of using this moisturizer, still didn't have any issues with my skin getting irritated and found that this was pretty effective in calming my skin, especially around the t-zone area. I have dry skin, so I don't know how effective this is with controlling oil production. The hydration level was also OK, it made my skin feel soft and moist, but the hydration didn't last. It's not bad for a moisturizer, but a little pricey.

I'm a fan of gel moisturizers, and this gel moisturizer has an especially nice feel to it. It absorbs well and is easy to apply as with most gel moisturizers. It leaves my face feeling soft and not-sticky, which I appreciate. Since it's a gel moisturizer, it doesn't feel like it has the strongest occlusives, so this may not be the best for people with particularly dry skin or in drier weather. It could layer underneath a creamier moisturizer if needed.The scenting is mild and makes the application enjoyable too. I like that they specify the pH for layering different ingredients that may be more sensitive to pH changes.Noting that gel moisturizers tend to be more expensive, I think the value here is good. This was easy to incorporate into my skincare routine, recommended.

It really does work to calm my red angry menopause face! lol.. I love that it leaves my skin feeling light and clean, and the smell is very mild and nice -- not chemically or perfumey. Works great for my teen kids also!
